Brief: Cotaplan entered into the design, supply and installation of a 4no classroom and ancillary block that was to enable a modular building to connect with the existing school. With Cotaplans diverse range of ex modular stocks and modular components, the project was able to deliver a unique way of delivering a highly robust building infrastructure utilising part new and refurbished building panels. Ultimately recycling and meeting carbon and green policies and most importantly achieving value for money without comprising on overall performance or quality.

Choosing Refurbished modular buildings: In order for Cotaplan to ensure that firstly, the part new and refurbished modular structure fitted with the existing building and ancillary was to ensure the pre design linking corridor was to accurately meet the factory designs requirements.
Recycled flooring and roof components where incorporated into the building design which where refurbished to give the building a more solid and quieter suspended floor system. The refurbished roof meant that a quieter roof could be designed and higher ceilings would be implemented as part of this development. The design elements of the build were to keep a traditional external theme, which a render and brickwork finish was carried out.

Earlsfield Primary School

Purpose of Application: New classroom building
Building: New classroom modular building
Project: Earlsfield Primary School
Location: London SW18 3QQ

Brief: Cotaplan delivered a full turn key package to consist of a single supply of a modular classroom. As part of the package, foundations, drainage, service connections and external works where met. As a new learning environment for infant children, the landscape was to include its own play zone consisting of artificial grass, landscaping and a soft play area. The interior building was to have temperature controlled air conditioning to ensure the building could be well ventilated during all seasons.

Choosing a new modular building: Cotaplan designed, delivered and installed a single storey modular classroom with an external finish of Cedar Cladding that was to enhanced the appearance of the building to give a environmentally sympathetic solution. With the modular classroom successfully completed on time and on budget, the primary school is now able to deliver a long term solution to more suitable teaching and learning.

St Johns Primary School

Brief: Operating under a design and build contract, the design brief was to create a foundation new modular building classroom that had a modern exterior and had the look and feel of a comfortable learning environment that would also serve this purpose.

Choosing a new modular building: To meet the expectations and design of a seamless building, Rockclad feature panels where used with a brickwork perimeter building skirt. A feature canopy was also added to the front elevation of the building to aid learning and playtime out of high sun. Health and Safety features where also paramount which the building featured aluminium windows and doors, which enabled minimal human effort to open doors. To meet the purpose of a comfortable learning, the interior was finished with a traditional method of plasterboard/skim with two coats decoration together with a suspended ceiling system.

Building: Temporary hire of a two storey classroom village
Project: Holy Family Primary School
Lease: Hire lease period 14 months
Location: Poplar, London E14 0DE

Brief overview: Cotaplan entered into a contract with Holy Family Primary School to provide temporary hire buildings for learning and teaching facilities. The school site had limited space aside from the main school building and away from the construction site.
Choosing temporary building: With the main school building undergoing a major refurbishment and new build extension there was a need for a ‘temporary classroom village’ to accommodate pupils and administration staff during demolition and construction works. Cotaplan’s reputation and policy of holding large stocks of ‘ready to go’ classroom buildings ensured that our client received a high quality solution at the lowest possible price for a 14 month hire period. With limited space available for the temporary school a two storey facility was essential. Both two storey hire buildings where provided ex stock and refurbished to a high standard suitable for all learning and teaching subjects.
